The ReCIPE programme pursues a research agenda that aims to improve a better understanding of the relationship between conflict, economic growth and public policy through providing grants via competitive calls. ReCIPE will have available a range of grant sizes, including grants exclusively for PhD students.

The objective of ReCIPE is to fund cutting-edge research while simultaneously being relevant to the policy dialogue in low-income and conflict-affected countries.

ReCIPE therefore supports rigorous quantitative research that investigates various issues related to conflict, economic growth, and public policy, mainly through a series of open calls for proposals.  The first call for grants proposals will be launched in July 2025. More information about the upcoming calls for Compact Research Grants can be found here and for PhD Research Grants can be found here.

More specifically, grants will be awarded to research projects studying conflict across one or more of the nine research themes. ReCIPE will also give particular encouragement to proposals which address three cross-cutting development issues that are simultaneously related to conflict and economic performance. These issues are directly and indirectly connected to ReCIPE’s main research themes. More information on research themes and cross-cutting issues can be found in the ReCIPE Research Strategy.

ReCIPE also strongly encourages proposals relevant to policy in one or more of the ReCIPE Focus Countries, especially for those that are low-income. Applications outside the ReCIPE Focus Country List will need to make a strong case for the relevance of the research to policy in one or more of the Focus Countries.
